I have a way for you to test and see if your 2007 Nissan Xterra has a smart alternator (I doubt it does), but I unfortunately don't have a list of what vehicles have a smart alternator so it will require you to do some testing:
1. Locate your main vehicle battery
2. Start the engine, ensuring any fans, radio, lights etc. are turned off.
3. Take a voltage reading across the main vehicle battery
4. Leave running for around 5/10 minutes, then repeat step 3
If your readings are around 14.4V DC then then you most likely have the traditional, non-smart alternator.
If your reading is closer to 12.5-13.5V then it’s likely that you have a smart alternator.
If you happen to have a smart alternator then you're also going to need the Relay Kit # 331-RK1260. You will hook it up using the wiring method in the attached photo.
When it comes to an install kit for the BCDC we recommend using the kit # e89ZR for an overlanding setup or the kit # e79ZR for a trailer installation setup.
