Question:

Redarc Liberty installed in my 2015 Kia Sorento with diode added. 7 pin plug shows voltage at running light pin even with vehicle lights off. Trailer running lights come on when plugs are connected. Lights on both work well. Puzzled.

The diode should not have anything to do with it, and there are only a couple of possibilities I can think of. First things first, check the ground of the connector on your '15 Sorento; it is common that a bad or insufficient ground can cause the issue of one of the functions bleeding through and continuing to have power.

Another potential issue is there may have been some corrosion on the 7-way of your Kia Sorento, and that corrosion bled to the inside of the 7-way on the running light pin. Check that pin to see if there is any corrosion, as it may even be minor, and if there is, and it can't be cleaned you can replace it (assuming you do not have the tow package) with the Mighty Cord Trailer Connector Adapter - 4-Way Flat to 7-Way RV Style # A10-7084VP.
