Question:

Where should the hitch mounting plates be placed: on top of the bumper mounts, between the bumper mounts and the frame, or, behind the frame?

When installing Curt trailer hitch # C11484 you will remove the bolts that hold the bumper support to the frame while also supporting the bumper so it does not fall. Then you will line up the hitch mounting locations with the bolts holes that held the bumper support to the end of the frame and use the hardware to secure everything. So it mounts on top of the bumper mounts.

I have included a link to the installation instructions for you so you can see what is involved in an installation.

If you plan on towing, first check the owners manual to make sure it is permissible to do so. If towing is permissible you also need the ball mount # C45521 and pin and clip # F-4. Then for a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258.

If you plan on using the hitch for something like a bike rack, Curt recommends using stabilization strap # 18050 to take some of the stress off of the hitch.
