Battery Disconnects For a 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 Diesel With Dual Batteries For Flat Towing

Question:
What is the proper method for disconnecting the negative terminal with a dual battery set up on the current generation GM diesel trucks when flat towing? Obviously RM466 is not an option with diesels. Should we set up a manual disconnect for both negative terminals? Neither manuals for 2020 Or 2021 have any mention of what to do with dual batteries.

Expert Reply:
I reached out to our local GMC dealer and they assured me that since you are only removing the negative terminals they can be disconnected in any order and reconnected the same.
A Battery Disconnect Switch # SE73FR can be used to make disconnecting and reconnecting an easier process. As these are rated for up to 50 volts DC and 1,250 cranking amps they will be sufficient for your batteries.
