What Brakes and Seals Do You Recommend for My 3,500 Pound Axles?

Question:

Hi e-trailer experts! I’ve got a 2018 Winnebago Micro Mini 2100BH. It’s got two 3,500lb Lippert axles V000314163, and I wanted to check some part compatibility with you. I’d like to replace the brakes on this trailer and I’d like to go with automatic adjustable brakes. I’m assuming that these would be compatible, but would appreciate your recommendation. I think the hubs and bearings are still fine, but I’d like to repack the bearings and replace the seals and I’m not sure which seals to purchase for this axle. I’d appreciate your guidance on which seals are compatible with this axle. Thanks for your help!

Yes, the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Brakes # 23-468-469 drum brakes will work on your Lippert 3,500 pound axles as long as you have 14 to 15 inch diameter wheels. As far as replacement seals for your axle, I recommend the Grease Seal - Double Lip - ID 1.719" / OD 2.565" - for 3,500-lb Axles # RG06-050.

If you need drums to go along with your brakes, I recommend the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3,500-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 10" Diameter # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K. This assembly will fit a 5 on 4-1/2 lug pattern. As far as installation, the assembly comes with bearings, races, grease seal, grease cap, wheel bolts, and lug nuts. If you need grease to go along with your setup, I recommend the LubriMatic Wheel Bearing Grease for Disc and Drum Brake Applications # L11465.
