Will Hopkins HM56203 Flat Tow Wiring Harness Operate License Plate Lamps on Vehicle

I am using part # HM56203. Can I tap into the brown wire and add a license plate light for my vehicle? I tow my Jeep behind a commercial vehicle and have been stopped by D.O.T. more than once for not having a light in that position.

Expert Reply:
Depending on what point in the factory taillight harness the license plate lamp is wired in, it's entirely possible that the license plate lamp on your 2007 Liberty could be bypassed when flat towing. Unfortunately, I was unable to find any specific information on this, either online or from Hopkins.
If your license plate lamp doesn't illuminate when flat towing, you would indeed need to run a jumper from the
# HM56203 harness to your license plate lamp.
