How do you remove the detector

The RV Safe # RS34FR Carbon Monoxide/LP gas detector is held to the wall using two screws. Remove the screws and you'll be able to pull the detector from the wall exposing the wiring. The red wire from the detector is connected to a 12-v power source, the black wire is connected to a ground.

Hey Wayne, to replace the Atwood propane gas detector you have now you could use the part #AT36681 which also is a carbon monoxide detector.

You could use the 2-wire Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector part #RS34FR in place of the Atwood 36681 that you referenced. This would fit in the cut out you have now and has a flange that is large enough that would cover the hole.
