Could RockyMounts HighNoon Bike Rack Allow Rear Hatch of 2019 Subaru Forester to Open

Updated 07/26/2021 | Published 07/23/2021

Question:

My car is a 2019 Forester Sport. I have an ebike, approximately 55# with 24inch wheel. Tires are about 2-1/2 inches. Will this rack tilt back enough to open the rear hatch while the bike is loaded? When folded up without bike on, how much clearance is there from end of hitch out?

Helpful Expert Reply:

Most likely the tilt feature of the RockyMounts HighNoon FC Solo Bike Rack for 1 Bike # RKY87RR would not allow you the ability to open the rear hatch but that will depend on the width of your handlebars and the height of them as well so it's hard to really give a solid answer on that. Now with that said you could try it and see and then if it doesn't work you could use the Yakima Backswing part # Y02483 which would allow the rack to pivot out and away from the vehicle so the hatch could open.

The adapter adds 14 inches of length and the T1 is overall 16-3/4" inches from center of hitch pin hole out to furthest point out. So, if you measure 28-1/4 inches from your hitch pin hole out you'd know where it would end up.
