I had our warehouse measure the Demco Slide-Lok Trailer Coupler - Adjustable Channel Mount - Primed - 2" Ball - 7,000 lbs # DM05823-97 you were looking at and from the center of the mounting hole to the back edge of the bracket measures 3/4" as shown in the included diagram.

Yes, you will want to sleeve the aluminum extrusion on your Legend cargo trailer when you install the Demco 5-Position Adjustable Channel Bracket #DM13867-52. This will help prevent the frame channel from being crushed.
