Increasing The Footprint Of Your Jack Or Stabilizer Foot

Updated 07/15/2025 | Published 06/30/2021

Question:

I have the BullDog 500199 electric jack on my livestock trailer and would like a little wider base for the foot to disperse the weight better. We travel to shows and often show animals out of our trailer while it is disconnected from the truck and a wider footprint would be more beneficial. Will this fit and stay on a 5.278” round foot?

Expert Reply:

The Snap Pad Jack Pad for Camper Jacks w/5-1/2" Round Feet Item # SN97FR is going to be too big to snap on to your 5.278" foot.

What you can do instead is use the Stromberg Carlson RV Jack Pads for RVs and Trailers - 9" Long x 6" Wide - Rubber - Qty 4 Item # SC84VR and add a Stromberg Carlson RV Jack Pads for RVs and Trailers - 11" Long x 10" Wide - Rubber - Qty 2 Item # SC24VR under that to spread out the footprint of your Bulldog Powered Drive Trailer Jack - Drop Leg - A-Frame - 22" Lift - 4,000lbs - Black Item # BD500199.

Hi Kevin, I have a bulldog tongue jack as well and would really like to add a snap pad. My diameter is a little over 5 1/4”, I realize the 5 1/2” will be too big, but have you ever heard of anyone gluing it to the metal base?

@Scott Hey Scott. I have not personally heard of anyone using glue on a SnapPad. Mainly because it typically isn't needed to install them. That said, I don't see any reason why you couldn't glue one on if no custom fit option is available. You would just want to make sure an use an adhesive that is good for bonding rubber to metal. A silicone adhesive might work well for that.
