Fuse Location In The Furrion RV Backup Camera

Question:

Per instructions while I installed the two furrion side cams, it’s says “Ensure that the fuse on the connected power line provides additional 1A fusing current for the camera.” How and where should I install this 1A fuse and what does it look like. One for every power line to each camera or one anywhere for the three. Help

The Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Backup Camera System w/ Night Vision - Rear Mount - 5" Screen Item # FOS05TASF only has a 2 amp 125v slow blow fuse in the power cable. If you take apart the portion of the cord that goes into the 12v outlet you'll see the fuse is the portion that moves back and forth and makes contact in the 12v outlet.

If the monitor to the camera comes on and works but no light on the camera itself would it be a fuse? or would the camera of went bad. Used the camera for 2 seasons with no problems but now it shows no connection on the monitor itself. thank you Char

@CharK The camera is powered typically by the reverse or running light circuit. If the blue light on the camera isn't on then it's not receiving power. I would check that the tow vehicle has the running lights on and then use a multimeter # PT89ZR to test and see where the power stops. You'll start with the tow vehicle's trailer connector (4-way or 7-way). From there you can plug in the trailer's connector to the tow vehicle and test after the connector. If you have a 7-way you can test at the junction box. If you have power there but not at the lights then the there's a short or break in the wiring somewhere in between that and the camera and you'll have to start digging in the walls to find the issue.

@KevinC Thank you for the quick reply! my lights all light up on the camper when it’s plugged into the tow vehicle I don’t know if that makes a difference or not for power to the camera?

@Char If the running lights are coming on but the camera isn't then you'll need to remove the camera from the mount and see if it's getting power from the factory wiring it's tied into with a multimeter # PT89ZR if it's getting power but not a full 12 volts then you can install the PWM Filter # VGR64VR inline behind the camera. This stores power to provide a constant 12v for the camera. If it's not receiving power at all then you'll have to trace from the camera to the power source to find where the issue is.
