Connection Issues With Curt Echo on a 2018 + Ford F-150
Updated 05/28/2021 | Published 05/27/2021 >
Question:
I have tried several times to get this to connect to my truck and it just will not connect. I have tried in tow mode and not in tow mode and I get nothing. Does it matter that the Brake Controller sits up side down when plugged in? Thanks

The Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 is a little complicated to use on the 2018+ Ford F-150's. To get the Echo to connect you will need to ensure that your 2020 Ford F-150 is in tow/haul mode. Then the truck is going to need to see that there is a 7-way plugged into the trailer that requires a 12v power source. You will need to plug the 7-way into the Echo going into the truck to get the truck to recognize that it needs to activate the 12v charge line.
If you are still not getting power I recommend checking that the 25 amp fuse in position 30 under the hood is in place and in good condition.
The Curt Echo can operate in any orientation. It will run a setup when it first receives power to set it so that it knows when you are braking.
