Recommended Timbren Axle-Less Suspension To Replace 3500lb Axle On 2019 Forest River R-Pod 179

Updated 05/28/2024 | Published 05/19/2021

Question:

Is there a Timbren axle-less replacement for the Forest River Rpod 179? I think the OEM axle is a 3500 lb Lippert.

The Timbren Axle-Less systems are all universal, and since they bolt directly to the frame of the trailer can be used on any trailer including your 2019 Forest River R-Pod 179.

Based on the information I can find on your R-Pod it appears that you are correct in thinking the OEM is a 3500lb axle.

For a 3500lb replacement I recommend the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - 3,500 lbs # ASR3500S05. This will allow you to reuse your current braking assemblies as it has the standard 3500lb # L68149 and # L44649 bearing combination.

The Timbren Axle-Less will be quite the upgrade over your current axle due to the built in AEON main spring that does a great job of absorbing road shock to give you a smooth ride.

I included a video of the # ASR3500S05 for you to take a look at.

Good morning, I have the same question as above regarding upgrading my stock axle to the axle-less system. But I have an RPOD 179 that is a 2016 (August). Thanks!

@StephenT Hi, to find the correct Timbren Axle-Less suspension system for your R-POD 179 you'll just want to check the axle for a white sticker called the axle tag. This tag will list the capacity of the axle and will take all the guessing out of it. That being said, the dry weight of this trailer is 2,649lbs so you likely do have a 3,500lb axle and would be able to use the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # ASR3500S05. These systems also can come with a built in rise or drop so I would think about whether or not you want to raise the height of the trailer and just get the right system for it now. The # ASR3500S05 comes with a 4-bolt brake flange so that you can transfer your brake assemblies over. The spindle uses bearings # L68149 and # L44649 as well as grease seal # 58846. You'll want to verify what bearings and seals your current hubs use to see if you can just reuse them as well.

@KevinC Good morning Kevin! This particular item appears to be on back order until June 19 at least. Is it possible that you have the equivalent set but with a slight lift/rise that might be in stock currently? Thanks!

@Stephen unfortunately it looks like each option is not in stock and would likely be direct shipped from the manufacturer instead so the delivery time is not likely to change. If you're still wanting to go with a small lift we offer a few options with a built in 2" lift: - Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension - 3,500lbs # TASR35HDS07 - Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension - Long Spindle - 3.5K # TASR35HDS06 (comes with longer spindle for larger wheels/tires.) - Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension - 5,200lbs # TASR5200S05
