Question:

I currently own a Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain tow bar. I have recently purchased a used 2008 Mini Cooper S Hardtop as my new toad. I need a base plate for the car but need to know what else I need to connect the car to the tow bar. Is there an intermediate piece tow bar adapter for that? I already own a braking system that will be installed.

Please refer to your vehicle specific owners manual for flat towing information, ensure your vehicle can actually be flat towed without damage to the transmission; I understand that some Mini Coopers with automatic transmissions can not.

Since you already have the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain Tow Bar, # RM-522. I suggest the Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit, # 521877-1.

For a lighting kit you can go with an easy and inexpensive magnetic kit such as, # TL21RK. Or the Custer Wireless LED Tow Bar Light, # LIW-LDTL-7B. Or, the permenant option but entails splicing wire, the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit with Bulbs, # RM-155. See the attached product review and installation video.

Since most states now require supplemental braking on the flat towed vehicle, I recommend is the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO proportional system, # SM99251. It will apply the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
