Preventing Exhaust Heat From Hitting The Kuat Sherpa 2.0

I have a 2015 Ford Escape with a 2inch hitch receiver. I am considering purchase of a Kuat Sherpa 2.0. A couple of reviews indicate a problem with the exhaust pipes of certain vehicles melting the plastic on this bike rack. Do you know if that is likely to be a problem with the Ford Escape? Is there a different rack that you would recommend for 2 bikes? Thanks!

IF you're worried about the Kuat Sherpa # SH22G melting because of the exhaust, I suggest using the Hi-Lo adapter # HL20B. This will extend your rack up/down and out. I really do like the Sherpa and don't think that you'll avoid the possibility of heating up the rack by going with a different one. The adapter is really all you need to give you peace of mind.
