Differences Between Kuat NV 2.0 Base and Non-Base Model

Question:

I am looking at the Kuat 2.0 and the Kuat 2.0 Base. What is the difference between these two hitch mounted bike racks?

The Kuat NV 2.0 2 Bike Platform Rack, # NV22G, and the Kuat NV 2.0 Base 2-Bike Platform rack, # BA22B. are both very similar bike racks. Both racks can be expanded to a 4-bike rack, # NA22G add-on for the NV 2.0 and # BA02B for the NV 2.0 Base, and both racks have very similar specs.

The NV 2.0 # NV22G does include the bike repair stand mounted on the end. The # NV22G, when installed in the hitch, will sit closer to your vehicle when folded down then the NV 2.0 Base bike rack.

Basically it comes down to whether or not you want to pay extra for the bike repair stand.

Want to buy the Kuat 2 bike highest quality rack. I understand there is an accessory that allows the stand to swing away from a Tailgate/door that open like a refrigerator so you don’t have to remove the bikes to get easy access to the back of the vehicle. Please let me know how to order this set up for a2020 MBZ G63.

There sure is. The Kuat NV 2.0 # NV22G (which is what I recommend) can be paired with the Swing Away Hitch Adapter # PVP20B so that the rack can swing out and away from the rear of your vehicle, giving you full access to the trunk/cargo area.

When you have the kuat nv base bike rack with the 2-bike add-on extender, can you tilt it down, or will it scrape the ground? We have a lower clearance Subaru outback.

@Jennifer We have tilted the Kuat NV 2.0 base 4-bike rack part # BA22B-BA02B down when it was installed in a Chevy Equinox and it didn't drag or touch the ground. You can see in the attached review video at the 1:30 mark.
