How Much Does the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Receiver for 2015 Honda Fit Weigh

Question:

Can you tell me how much the hitch weighs please? Im watching my weight on my FIT for fuel efficiency. Will it have any small benefit of stiffening the body slightly and maybe improving handling a little, at least when not towing? Thank you!

The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 306-X7273 weighs roughly 29-lbs, so it's really not going to add any more weight than a load of groceries or some personal cargo would in most cases. You're not going to see any type of improvement in handling or stiffening of the body though since it's not making any structural improvements to the vehicle frame.

If you're going to be towing with this hitch you'll also need a wiring harness, ball mount, hitch ball, hitch pin and clip. For the wiring I recommend using the Tekonsha # 118767 which will provide you with a reliable 4 way wiring harness that will allow you to power the lights on a trailer. To complete your towing setup the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # EBMK4 provides you an option that can be used in either a rise or drop position and comes with both a 1-7/8" and 2" hitch ball to cover towing a few different trailers; it also comes with a hitch pin, clip and storage bag so you'll have everything you need to tow a light trailer.
