Question:
do all four tires need these chains or in my case front wheel drive front tires only?

You could certainly just add chains to the front tires since that would provide you with driving traction. But ideally you would want all four tires to have chains regardless of which axles drive the vehicle, as this would be the most effective and safest approach. That being said, I did check the owner's manual for your 2007 Toyota Avalon and it appears that Toyota recommends chains only be installed on the front tires.
It looks like the two most common tire sizes on a 2007 Toyota Avalon are 215/60-16 and 215/55-17. If you have one of these sizes then you can go with Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC335DC for a cable design or Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains # TC1138 for a chain design. When comparing cables and chains, the cables tend to be easier to use and install while the chains are slightly more work to use. Chains also tend to cause more damage if they happen to break for any reason due to their bulky and heavier design. Lastly, chains are better for heavy snow while cables are made for lighter snow. If you go with the chains then you will want to add Titan Chain Multi-Arm Rubber Tire Chain Adjuster # TCMA2; the cables already have adjusters included.
If you happen to have a different tire size then feel free to provide me with your tire information and I will find a set for you. I attached demonstration videos for you to check out.
