Is Fascia Trimming Needed to Install Trailer Hitch on 2006 Honda Element EX-P

Question:

Hello - can you tell me if Draw-Tite/75659 - Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2 - will fit my 2006 Honda Element EX-P without modification to the rear bumper fascia? On some Element models, the hitch tube does not clear the fascia and trimming or bending of the fascia is required. Please let me know if there is enough clearance on my model, thanks!

For the 2006 Honda Element, Draw-Tite doesn't have have sub-model specific information about if fascia needed trimming to install their # 75659 Class III hitch.

I'm afraid that the best I can recommend you to is to look at the install photos I've provided and compare the specific bumper on your Element to what's shown in the photos.

If you have the squared-off bumper that doesn't slant downward under the vehicle, like what's shown in photo #1, then you won't need to trim the bumper fascia. Photo 2 shows an Element SC, where the bumper fascia did need to be trimmed to allow the receiver tube to pass through. Photos 3 and 4 show the same ridged bumper cover, in # 3 it was not trimmed, in # 4 it was.

In my opinion, you'd be better off going with the Curt # 13574 if you don't have that squared off bumper shown in photo # 1, as the other photo shows there's a gap between the underside of the bumper and the top of the receiver tube once the install is completed. That amount of extra space would make reduce the chances you'd need to trim anything.
