Recommended Replacement Wheel/Tire for 20 x 8-10 Tires on Older Pop-Up Camper

Question:

Good afternoon. I have a 1971 Apache Ramada. It has legacy 20x8-10 tires load range c with 4 on 4 wheels. The weight limit for the trailer is 1750lbs. Can you recommend replacement tire and wheel sets? Thank you.

The 20x8-10 tires are commonly used on lawn equipment these days, not trailers so I don't offer a trailer tire in that exact size. The good news is that there IS a trailer tire size that's extremely close in size. A 205/65-10 tire would be 1/2 inch greater in diameter, which would raise your pop-up camper by by only 1/4 of an inch, which would work just fine. The tires are .1 of an inch wider, which also won't make any difference.

For a camper, you'd likely want to go with a powder coated wheel, so I'd recommend the Kenda # AM3H370 which is a 205/65-10 load range C tire with a 1100 lb per tire/2200 lb per axle capacity mounted on a 10 x 6 white powder coated wheel with a 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern. This tire would have plenty of capacity for your small pop-up.

If you'd prefer the corrosion resistance offered by a galvanized rim, use # AM3H380 which is the same tire mounted on a 10 x 6 galvanized rim with a 4 on 4 bolt pattern.
