Bias Tires vs. Radial Tires

Bias vs. radial tire graphic

Bias ply tires are designed for off-road or agricultural applications. They are built with thick, durable nylon cords that are positioned at a 30- to 45-degree angle to the direction of travel. The layers alternate in a crisscross pattern, making the sidewalls stiffer so that the entire tire is able to flex easily. As a result, the tire provides a smooth ride and improved handling when trailering on uneven surfaces.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

A good alternative to 20.5 x 8-10 tires

I ordered a set of three (one spare) for my lightweight canoe trailer as an upgrade for the wimpy little original wheels and tires. These add almost 2" of extra ground clearance and better highway speeds, enabling me to tow it to remote lakes in the high country of Wyoming. I am very pleased with my purchase. 852960

Great tire and rim for my aluminum boat trailer. These folks really do a great job. First time buyer, but I'll be back. Never ordered tires off the internet either. You folks made it so simple to find what I needed, no problems with the website either. I really am surprised at how fast I received my order (on the day you said it would be here, it was.) Just a heads up! I called about wheels and tires for my pop up trailer, and from that moment on it was a "pleasure & refreshing" dealing with the staff member who was very knowledgeable on the products they offer and what can be cross referenced to work! The price was "right" and the service and delivery time even better! I can't say enough good things about the whole process with etrailer.com, "Very Happy Camper", no pun indented. Thanks for the GREAT service! 586171

Our wheels arrived quickly and are perfect! We chose E-Trailer over other companies because the total price was $20 less and let’s face it, we can all use an extra $20 these days. The wheels are an exact fit to the OEM for our pop-up. They installed quickly and easily and look great! We can’t wait to get on the road. 554535

Correct product was delivered on time and fit exactly as it should on our Coleman tent trailer. After mounting tires on trailer and adjusting air pressure in both tires we ordered (pressure was different in both tires) I traveled about 1,000 miles with no problems or having to further adjust pressures. Wayne H. at etrailer.com was very helpful in having the tires delivered on time and was knowledgable of the products we were interested in. Thank you Wayne for your assistance with our purchase. 525714

  • 1996 Jayco Pop-Up Camper Tire and Wheel Replacement
As long as your current wheel has 4 wheel stud holes the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" White Wheel part # AM3H370 will be a great choice. Overall it is 20.5" in diameter so a perfect match for what you have and a width of 8.3" so it's 3/16" of an inch wider on each side. This is a load range C tire that gives you 1,100 lbs. of capacity at 50 PSI so it will work great with campers up to 2,200 lbs. since we are using two. • Changing from 5.70-8 Tires to 10 Inch Tires on a Trailer
As long as you have room in your wheel well for a larger tire and wheel, the only other factors that you will need to consider are the bolt pattern and weight capacity of the new tires. For example, the Kenda 205/65-10 Tire and Wheel Combo, # AM3H370, has a 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern and a maximum load rating of 1,100 lbs at 50 psi. A 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern is the most common bolt pattern for 8 and 10 inch wheels, so this combo should work as long as the load rating of two wheel/tire combos...

  • Availability of 205/65-10 Tire/Wheel Combo with 2.75 Inch Pilot Diameter for 1995 Jayco 1207 Pop-Up
The only time the pilot diameter of the wheel is crucial is if you have a hub-centric wheel. A hub centric wheel centers on the portion of the hub that extends through the pilot opening, and will use lug bolts instead of nuts. The pilot diameter of the replacement wheel would need to match the existing wheel exactly. However, if it's a lug-centric wheel, the hub will have studs and the wheel will be secured with lug nuts. The pilot diameter can be equal or larger than the existing wheel,...

A 10 inch tire size 205/65-10 would actually be less than that at 20.5 inches so for a rim and tire in this size with a 4 lug pattern you would want the part # AM3H370. • Correct Size Spare Wheel/Tire for 20.5x8-10 Trailer Tires
The best match we have for a 20.5x8-10 tire is a 205/65-10 which is just slightly larger but will still work just fine as a spare. I recommend using the part # AM3H390 for 5 lug or the part # AM3H370 for 4-lug which are both great cost effective options.
