Question:
I have a 2020 Camaro SS 1LE and plan to buy the Curt hitch c11900 and Curt C18145 cargo carrier for it. My main use is to carry 150lbs of wheels/tires on the cargo carrier. Adding the weight of the cargo carrier, that will be about 180lbs, still safely under the 200lb tongue weight limit of the hitch. I just want to confirm if I will need a stabilizing strap with that amount of weight on that hitch. Is that correct?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Curt requires the use of # 18050 stabilizing straps on the hitch # C11900 for non-supported loads like bike racks or cargo carriers like the Curt # C18145 cargo carrier.
I really like how well hidden this hitch is. If it were me, I would add the etrailer # 22281 rubber hitch cover.
I looked into the installation instructions, and among the typical tools required, there were a few special tools that you should consider getting to make the install go easier and faster. You may want the Powerbuilt # ALL648544 Trim Pad Remover, a T-15 Torx head driver that you can get from a hardware store, and a Power Tools # PTW3001C torque wrench. A specific list of tools is located in the attached installation instructions.
