Installation to Allow Full Opening of Rear Doors with Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier

Question:
I am inquiring about the Roadmaster RM-195125 swing down spare tire carrier. I have a 2002 Roadtrek which is on a 2001 Chevy Express 3500 chassis. There is an offset 2 receiver located about center of the left rear door. If the Roadmaster is mounted in this receiver, when lowered to the left, will it allow the left door to be opened unobstructed? Are you aware this being used in this manner? Thanks

Expert Reply:
While I haven't seen the Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier # RM-195125 used on a vehicle with an offset receiver, when the tire is lowered to the left it will allow the left rear door to at least partially open. Typically the tire size will be sufficient so that you won't be able to open it completely. With that said, if you open the right rear door, put the spare down, and then open the left door you should be able to fully open both doors without any issues.
I've linked our review video of this carrier for you to check out.
