Will a Blue Ox base plate kit, BX-1143, fit a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk?

The Blue Ox # BX1143 is a fit for the Jeep Cherokee, not the Grand Cherokee so it won't work for your vehicle.

For your 2021 Grand Cherokee, you'll want to use # BX1128, which Blue Ox confirms will fit your vehicle. Blue Ox states that this base plate kit only works with motorhome mount tow bars, as opposed to vehicle mounted models that use a trailer coupler and attach to a trailer ball on the motorhome. The Blue Ox Alpha 2 tow bar, part # BX7380 would be a good choice. The tow bar includes the safety cables.

To complete your setup, you'll also need a taillight wiring harness, a supplemental braking system and possibly a high/low adapter if the 17-1/2 inch installed height of the base plates has a height difference greater than 3 inches compared to the height of the receiver on the motorhome.

For a wiring harness, I'd go with a diode kit like # RM-152-98146-7. For a supplemental braking system, I'd recommend a portable system like the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR. If you use a portable system, you will avoid an expensive installation. The Patriot can be installed or removed in just a couple of minutes.

If you should need a high/low adapter, I'll link you to our selection of adapters. Just choose the adapter that places the hitch height of the motorhome within 3 inches of level.
