Question:

Hi, I have purchased a class A RV that comes with a Blue Ox tow bar. (2019 Newmar Ventana 4037) I have a 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk that we want to use as a flat tow vehicle. It does not have Park Sense. What do I need to install the base plate, wiring, charging system, if any, etc. for my Jeep. Thank you. (Previous owner also towed a Trailhawk and then a Grand Cherokee with this coach)

Hey James! Congrats on your new purchase! To flat tow your 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk you will need the following parts:

Base Plate Kit - Blue Ox Base Plate Kit item # BX1143. This is designed specifically for the Trailhawk models and will work great with your Blue Ox tow bar. Compatibility shouldn't be an issue with the previous owner also towing a Trailhawk but if you would like me to confirm I would just need to know what model tow bar you have.

Wiring Harness - Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit item # RM-15267. I checked with Roadmaster, since you do not have the Park Sense feature you don't need the upgraded LED diodes. The item # RM-15267 will provide you with everything you need to connect to your RV's 7-way and have the lighting functions controlled.

Charge Line - Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles item # RM-156-25. You will definitely need one of these as you do not disconnect your battery while flat towing.

Supplemental Braking System - Demco Air Force One Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Air Brakes item # SM99243. Since your 2019 Newmar Ventana 4037 is a diesel pusher the Air Force One system is the best option out there. It's designed specifically to work with RV's like yours and is also one of the safest and easiest on your equipment. Just a side note on a braking system. You may want to see what the prior owner already had installed. If they were already using an Air Force one system you'll most likely only need the Second Vehicle Kit for Demco Air Force One Flat Tow Brake System item # SM99209.

Additionally, if you do end up installing the Air Force One item # SM99243, I recommend using the Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Line Kit for Demco Air Force One Braking Systems item # DM66VR. This is specifically designed to work in conjunction with your braking system. You would install it instead of the Roadmaster item # RM-156-25.

High Low Adapter - The tow bar needs to be within 3" of level. If you measure the height of the inside top of the hitch receiver tube on your RV, and the height difference is more than 3 inches above/below the base plate tab height, you'll need a high/low adapter.
