Question:

We are purchasing a Thor Fourwinds 26A class c RV. It has a towing package installed. We will be towing a 2015 Ford Escape. What do I need to tow the Ford? Car weighs about 3500 lbs

According to the owner's manual, front wheel drive models of the 2015 Ford Escape must be towed using a tow dolly, AWD vehicles must be towed using a trailer. The vehicle cannot be dinghy towed with all 4 wheels down.

For a tow dolly, I'd recommend the Demco Kar Kaddy X, part # DM9713093. The dolly uses hydraulic disc brakes for sure, safe and predictable braking. Because the dolly uses a hydraulic surge coupler that compresses and applies the brakes when the motorhome applies the brakes, you won't need to install a brake controller in your motorhome. The dolly uses a simple 4 pole trailer connector for the lighting functions, if your motorhome only has the 7-way trailer connector, you'll need an adapter like # PK12716. The dolly includes the straps for securing the vehicle, as well as safety chains.
