Question:
i have a 2 inch coupler that has a collar that slides over the coupler, what do you have to lock up the trailer coupler

We have a variety of locks for your coupler, each with their own applications.
If you have a fat lip coupler, I recommend the etrailer Trailer Coupler Lock - Flat Lip, part # e98897. This yellow lock can fit a 2" coupler and is an immediate deterrent as the color quickly grabs attention. The lock has a stem that reaches into the coupler and can't be wiggled free.
If you don't have a fat lip coupler but still want a lock that reaches into the coupler, I recommend the EZ Lock Trailer Coupler Lock, part # BLTL-20-40D. This lock is designed specifically for Bulldog couplers, but it fits many other standard couplers. The lock secures above the coupler with a steel pin.
Finally, if your collar prevents the use of lock that reaches into the coupler, then I recommend the etrailer Coupler Latch Lock, part # e98886. This is pin that slips through the coupler latch, preventing it from being released (making the coupler useless to would-be thieves). This particular one is a 2" span, but we have other lengths if needed.
I've linked to video demonstrations of each of these for your consideration.
