Trailer Wiring and Hitch for 2019 Chevy Express Van without Tow Package

Question:

I bought a used 2019 chevy express van. Is there anywhere on the vehicle to see if the factory tow package was installed? There is no hitch or obvious wiring I can see. If it was not, will I need to run a 12v power line from the battery to the rear end? Thanks

If your 2019 Chevy Express Van does not have any trailer wiring or a hitch there's a strong chance you don't have it but you can verify this by checking the VIN with a Chevy dealer.

So for trailer wiring you'd want to start with the 4-way part # 118392 which is custom fit for your vehicle.

From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. You wouldn't need to run a 12 volt from the 7-way to the vehicle battery unless you needed to charge the trailer battery when towing.

The etrailer hitch part # e98861 is a fit for your vehicle and has a higher towing capacity and would be a great solution.
