In order to tow a fifth wheel trailer with a 2018 Ford F-150 5.5' Bed the best option we have without requiring changing out the pin box on the trailer is the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # DM8550040 which can then be used with the Demco Hijacker Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails part # DM8552028-71. This is the only slider hitch option which will allow for adequate turning clearance on a super short (5.5') bed. Otherwise, you'd have to change out the pin box on the trailer and use a fixed fifth wheel hitch and this will get costly.
In regards to the hitch being easily removable that's not really going to be feasible for this setup. The only way for this is a fixed hitch which is still going to be heavy and a rotating pin box which requires changing out the pin box on the trailer. If you can provide the pin box model on the trailer I can get you setup with an option for this.
