Best Suspension Enhancement for 2021 Tundra SR5 4x4 Towing Trailer
Updated 11/14/2020 | Published 11/13/2020 >
Question:
Weekly I tow a utility trailer that’s 1500lbs unloaded, and up to 5800lbs loaded.. I will also be towing a camp trailer that’s 6000lbs unloaded, and approx 7000lbs loaded 4-5 times a year. I use a weight distribution hitch for the camp trailer. I should add that I just got rid of a 2020 3/4 ton pickup that was a “bucket of factory defects”. The Tundra factory suspension works well with the utility trailer at approx. 2000 lbs. I have yet to hook up and tow the camp trailer or fully loaded utility trailer with the Tundra. If we can assume tongue weight equals 10 of the trailer weight then I know I’ll need some suspension reinforcement to mitigate the sagging common with 1/2 ton trucks. So, not turning the Tundra rear suspension into a 1ton-like ride what spring would you recommend? V/R,

Helpful Expert Reply:
The best suspension enhancement for your 2021 Toyota Tundra is by far the RoadActive Suspension kit part # RAS34FR as it gives you the support you are wanting to prevent sag, doesn't hurt loaded or unloaded ride quality, and also improves handling and side to side stability.
