Question:
Hello, my new 2020 Mazda CX-5 came with a 11/4” receiver hitch. I’m currently using a Thule T2 Classic 4 place bike rack to transport my bikes. Can I use a hitch adapter? Will it sustain the weight of the 4 place with bikes? Thank You

I have another option, but using a 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch adapter like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter # C45785 will reduce the maximum tongue weight rating of your trailer hitch receiver by 50%. Due to the weight of your Thule T2 Classic 4 Bike you would not be able to support 4 bikes with an adapter.
Your best option is to install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13315 which has a 2x2 receiver, and installs with only the receiver being visible. I included a picture of Curt # C13315 installed to for you to take a look at.
The Curt # C13315 will allow you to not have to worry about needing an adapter in a future and will allow you to safely use your bike rack with 4 bikes on it. Make sure to check your vehicle's owners manual for you maximum tongue weight rating, and use the lowest rating between the trailer hitch receiver and your vehicle.
I included a video of the Curt # C13315 being installed on a 2020 Mazda CX-5 for you.
