How Much Clearance is Needed Between Trailer Axle and Trailer Frame

Question:

How much clearance between top of axle and frame, axle mounted on top of spring. 3inch dia. axle. How much clearance between top of tire and fender. no load.

Expert Reply:

Since your axle is mounted on top of the leaf spring you will want between 2 and 2-1/2 inches between the top of the axle and the trailer frame. You will also want 3 inches of clearance between the top of the tire and the fender.
