1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Today, we're going to take a look at this Dexstar 15 inch by 5-inch, black, eight-spoke steel trailer wheel with the five on four and a half-inch bolt pattern. Now, this is a sturdy steel construction. It has a nice black powder coat finish over an e-coat primer on the front and on the back of the wheel. It does give you excellent corrosion resistance. You can see this as an eight-spoke design pattern on this wheel, and it is a high-quality wheel.
Does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation, specifications.This wheel is made by Dexstar, and it is made in the USA. Now, the center cap here if you prefer to have one that does not come with a center cap, you can purchase those separately, we sell them on our website. You just need to make sure to buy the center cap that has a diameter of 3.19 inches. That's the diameter of this pilot hole right here that the cap will go through.A few dimensions on this. The diameter, which is measured inside to inside, is 15 inches.
To measure that, we're going to get our tape measure, and you can see if we go across, there's your 15-inch diameter, and the width on this wheel, the same way. It'll be measured inside to inside or bead seat to bead seat. So you're going to be looking right at five inches wide.Now the bolt pattern on this wheel is going to be a five on four and a half-inch bolt pattern. And if you want to measure that on a wheel like this, that's an odd number of lugs, you just pick any one of the holes, let's say this one, and you'll measure from the center of that hole directly across to either one of these holes. But when you measure it, it's from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of whatever hole you measure to.On this wheel, it'll measure four and a half inches.
So it's a five lug four and a half-inch bolt pattern. This wheel does use a wheel lug size of a half-inch by 20. And the weight capacity on this wheel is 2,200 pounds. That should do it for the review on the Dexstar 15 inch by 5-inch, black, eight-spoke steel trailer wheel with the five on four and a half-inch bolt pattern.
