Question:

Hello. I am trying to build out a trailer. I intend to have batteries in a TorkLift Power Armor Solar Locking Battery Cabinet. I also have a generator as a back up and to charge the batteries. Do you have a diagram that shows how I can wire the battery cabinet and the generator with the PD4135k converter.

I attached a wiring diagram for the Progressive Dynamics Converter # PD4135K for you to check out. On the right side of the diagram you'll see the connections that run to the battery and on the left side you see the connections that you'd run generator input power source.

It is my understanding that the 4135 converter will supply 12v dc even without being connected to a battery. Does the white wire on the back of the converter next to the 5 black 12v leads need to be connected to chassis ground if there is no battery

@Rick I'd go ahead and connect it even if you won't have a battery.

@JamesonC I have been trying to figure out why my 12v lights are not working. Would this possibly explain why they are not working? I know when I add a battery, the white wire will go to the negative and the negative terminal will also be grounded to the chassis but without a battery, I did not realize that the white wire would need to be grounded since the converter is also grounded to the bus bar.

@Rick It's hard to say but it's worth trying. Most likely your lights aren't grounding properly and the wire being connected will complete the circuit.
