Question:
I am doing my home work on setting up my 2019 F150 4x4 for flat towing. What is the difference between Roadmaster direct connect baseplate #524431-5 and #524431-4? I plan on purchasing the Roadmaster Nighthawk tow bar #RM-676. I know I also need a braking system, tail light kit, umbilical cord, and battery charging set up. See attached screenshot of my cart. Anything else?

You have done your homework for your 2019 Ford F-150 4x4. You can use either the Roadmaster EZ5 # RM-524431-5 base plates or the EZ4 # RM-524431-4. The difference is the EZ5 directly connect to the tow bar and the EZ4 will use a crossbar for connection. So specifically with the Nighthawk tow bar # RM-676, I recommend the EZ5 # RM-524431-5 because the crossbar doesn't come with that tow bar. This tow bar also comes with the umbilical cord and safety cables, so you won't need to get those separately.
For your tow bar wiring, the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # HM56009 is a great option that will plug into the factory wiring at your tail lights. Then you will simply cut off the 4-way trailer connection end and install the 6-way connector that comes with your tow bar. You can then add the charge line # RM-156-25 to maintain your vehicle battery. I've attached an article to help you with the specific wiring locations. The # RM-88400 relay is required to prevent the towed vehicle's brake signal from overriding the turn signal from the RV when applying the brakes during a turn.
The Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # HM39524 will then work well for your braking needs. It is easy to install and simple to use.
Last, you will likely need a high-low adapter. I've linked the page to your options and have also added a help article to help with the measurements to confirm if you need one and which is the correct fit if you do to operate in the safe zone. With these components you will be good to go.
