How to Reset my Honda Ridgeline After Installing the Tekonsha T-One Harness Part # 118778

Question:

Tekonsha Instructions say for initial test, reset vehicles electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.inch The 2019 Honda Ridgeline has keyless ignition. Should I skip this test or do something different to reset the electrical system?

To reset the system after installing the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118778. Just return the ignition settings to the same as you would to park the Ridgeline. This will reset the electrical system and it will recognize the added wiring harness.

After installing the Tekonsha T-One wiring harness with the 4-pole flat connector (part number 118778), my backup camera on the truck does not work. I don't understand your reset instructions above. I have driven the truck several times, but have not connected a trailer to the harness yet. Can you give me a little bit more detailed instructions? Surely this cannot be just coincidental?

@Jim If you're wanting to ensure that the system is fully restarting then I recommend just removing the key from the ignition and disconnecting the battery cables and waiting about an hour for the electricity still in the wiring to dissipate. You can then reconnect the battery cables and the system should fully reset since it lost power. I would not say it's coincidental that your camera isn't working properly but I do think a reset will help the ECU recognize the new trailer wiring and properly function going forward.

I did disconnect the battery, but only for about 30 seconds. I will try the longer time.
