Bolts for Installation and Shock Length for Roadmaster Replacement Shock Absorber

Updated 07/31/2020 | Published 07/29/2020

Question:

Hello, Looking to replace the shocks on a single axle 3,500. my question is about the eyelets on the ends of the shocks. What size bolt/shaft are they for? The mounts for my shocks are 5/8inch on the bottom and almost 3/4inch at the top. I am looking at your Replacement Shock Absorber for Roadmaster Comfort Ride Trailer Suspension System - Qty 1 Item # RM-204000-00. Previously I was able to get a shock with rubber bushings in the eyelets that was probably designed for a 5/8inch bolt or shaft and was able to force it on the larger end with some grease. Other specifications include 12inch collapsed and about 19inch extended and might have some wiggle room.

The Replacement Shock Absorber # RM-204000-00 is installed using M12 x 1.75 x 100mm — class 8.8 bolts and it measures 11-1/2" when compressed and 17-1/2" when extended.

This shock is designed specifically for the Roadmaster Comfort Ride system like the kit # RM-2450 which is for a tandem 3,500 lb axle trailer.

Since you have a single axle trailer I recommend going with the Lippert Components Bolt-On Shock Kit w/ Heavy Duty Gas Shocks # LC281255 instead.
