Question:

I have a specialized brand step through bike. All other carriers I’ve looked at requires the use of an adapter to replicate the top bar on the bike. Something else to mess with before and after a ride.

Thats a nice looking bike! Unfortunately there aren't any trunk mount bike racks with dual arms like the Saris Bones 2 Bike Carrier part # SA805BL with out an adapter bar like the Malone Bike Adapter Bar part # MPG2165. I wouldn't be too put off by it. It will take about ten seconds to install it.

There is the Thule OutWay 2-Bike Platform Rack part # TH65JV which will work out perfectly for your situation and allow you to get your bike where you want it without an adapter bar.

I've included videos on both the adapter bar and the other rack to check out.
