Fit of etrailer Brand e98839 Class III Hitch on 2016 Subaru Forester

Question:

I got this from someone and went to my local garage to have it installed this morning. They told me it would not work on my 2016 Subaru Forester due to the muffler location . I have single exhaust, the thing with this is they have a mechanic that has worked for Subaru and he was the one telling me the reason this would not fit.. Any ideas? thanks in advance.

As you can see in the provided photo, the etrailer brand # e98839 hitch will indeed fit a 4th Generation Subaru Forester with a single exhaust, like your 2016. Unless your vehicle has an aftermarket exhaust, the hitch will fit fine. I've also linked an install video, which shows Dave completing a successful install on a 2016 Forester.
