Question:
Id like to replace my trailer AC with a vent fan, but am not sure how that will work with the wiring. Id like the fan to work on 12V. Can I use the existing AC wiring? Or is it more complicated than that? If I cant use a 12V fan, can I use the existing wiring for a 100V fan? Thanks!

Expert Reply:
Vent fans are two-wire designs so they are much less complicated than air conditioning units. They only have a 12 volt wire and ground wire so you just need to be able to attach the 12 volt to a power source and have a good ground and that's all there is to it. To install them you will need the Roof Vent Installation Kit # 344270KITW and for extra wire if needed the 16-Gauge # DW02359-1, which is sold by the foot.
For fans, so long as you have the standard 14" x 14" opening, which you should, then you will want a really good fan to replace an AC unit, and I recommend one of the following:
- MaxxAir MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent with 12V Fan - Powered Lift - 4 Speed # MA00-04751KSX
- MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent with 12V Fan, Thermostat, and Remote - Powered Lift - 10 Speed # MA00-04500K
- MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan, Thermostat, and Remote - Powered Lift - 10 Speed # MA00-07000K
I have added links to video reviews and installs to check out as well.
