Can the cover be locked open in different positions?

We do carry tonneau covers similar to the Pace Edwards Switchblade Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover # 311-SWD7936 for your 2017 Ram 3500 with an 8 foot bed that can be locked at different spots, but the Switchblade is not a lockable tonneau cover.
Instead I recommend the Pace Edwards JackRabbit Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover # 311-JRD7936 (Black) or # 311-M-JRD7936 (Matte Black).
The JackRabbit is like the Switchblade in that it is a manually retractable tonneau cover but has a lock which you can engage anywhere along the rails so it is lockable at any point you choose. I have added a link to a video review of the JackRabbit for you to check out as well.
