What Stops the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel for Recessed Ball From Spinning

Question:

Looks like the center of fifth-wheel pin is behind the gooseneck ball, what is to keep the hitch assembly from rotating on the flatbed in the event of an accident or hard braking.

The Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter for Recessed Ball part # DM8550046 is indeed slightly offset. In regards to the base spinning on the hitch ball, this won't be an issue as the clamping mechanism pulls up on the hitch ball for a friction fit which is sufficient to stop the base from turning. There won't be an issue with spinning even in hard braking situations. This is not a new design per se so it has been tested and proven.
