Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 11/21/2024

Question:

I ordered a curt brake controller 51146 with a wiring harness for a 2024 chevy silverado 2500. The harness that came with has a male end, and so does the end of the plug inside the truck they are an identical match. the harness that came with is 51525. Was i sent the incorrect harness? Any more information or insight you can send would be great.

Hello Steve, thanks for reaching out. The # C51525 is the correct harness for the 2024 Silverado 2500. The factory plug under the dash should look like the plug in the picture below. Is it possible you are not looking at the correct plug? It should be like the female equivalent of the plug on the # C51525 harness. The OEM connector may be wrapped in foam or electric tape so please do check again and see if you can find it. it should be right near the emergency brake pedal but it might be tucked up away out of sight. All of the OEM plugs on Chevy are female plugs so this would be the first we have heard of the OEM plug being identical to the plug on the harness. If your truck truly does not have the female plug the only option would be to cut off both plugs and hardwire the controller.

Hey Steve, did you end up finding the correct factory plug for your Silverado near the brake pedal? It’d be great to hear if the Curt harness fit once you located it. Your update could make it easier for others running into the same issue.
