Question:

Going to have a Curt hitch attached to my 2019 Chevrolet Impala. Is it recommended to have this strap attached to my car for a platform bike rack? Does it affect the warranty on Curt hitches? Thank you

Good question; the Curt Stabilizing Support Strap # 18050 is recommended by Curt, but is not required when using a bike rack on your 2019 Chevy Impala with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12115.

It will not affect the warranty on the Curt hitch if you choose not to use the strap. There was a time when this was the case for the majority of Curt hitches, but that has changed so the straps are no longer required, just recommended. It never hurts to use a strap to optimize stability but it is not a necessity.

For a platform bike rack that will work with the 1-1/4 inch, Class II Curt hitch on your '19 Impala I recommend checking out the Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack # S64650 (budget-friendly option), Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2-Bike Rack # HR200Z (mid-tier option).
