How Does Yakima SkyRise HD Tent Attach to Crossbars

Question:

Is there a way to safely mount the skyrise hd directly to hd bars via channel nuts or something of the sort? The bar clamp setup on the underside of the tent appears like it would add a considerable amount of unnecessary height above the crossbars vs a more traditional u bolt mount?

The only method of attachment that Yakima offers for the SkyRise HD part # Y07437 is the clamp style you mentioned. I attached a picture of what it looks like. I also attached a review video link for the tent for you to check out as well.

The clamp setup adds a bit of height but it's not a significant amount that would have negative effect on really anything.

Hello I want to purchase the Yakima skyrise hd tent for my truck but my Yakima crossbars are 63" apart. Is that too far of a span?

The Yakima SkyRise HD Tent # Y07437 works with a maximum crossbar spread of 40-1/2". The 63" spread you mentioned seems awfully large. Is this a ladder rack? Can the bars be adjusted at all?
