Can a CTS2 Tuner Be Used as a Monitor on a Gas Engine if it's a Diesel or vice versa?

Question:

My freind has a edge cts2 tuner for a Chevy 5.3 gas and I have a Chevy 6.6 duramax would I be able to use his tuner only as a monitor on my 6.6

The Edge Insight CTS2 Comprehensive Gauge Display - 5" Color Touch Screen with Swipe part # EP84130 that you looked at can be used interchangeably between gas and diesel engines. If what he has is the Edge Gas Evolution CTS2 Performance Tuner - 5" Color Touch Screen with Swipe part # EP25450 my contact at edge told me that monitoring a diesel with a gas tuner does work. You will not be able to change the tune in any way but the monitoring functions will work without issues.
