Is a Brake Lite Relay Required for 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Being Flat Towed

Do I need a brake relay switch when using this supplemental brake system so the Jeep doesn’t override the rv brake or turn signal when applied? I have been looking at questions and videos but have yet to get a solid answer. Thanks!

I understand, there is a lot of components to flat tow a vehicle and even from year to year model changes can make a big difference.
You do not need a brake lite relay for the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Supplemental Braking System # RM-9400 on your 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. That's because when you put your Grand Cherokee into "tow mode" the brake pedal does not provide any power to the brake lights. A brake lite relay is used to not allow power to go through when towing, and allow the lights to come on when not towing.
One sure way you can check to see if you need one is, turn the Jeep off, leave the keys out and do not open the doors or activate anything for about 15 min. Then go and press the brake pedal without opening the doors or activating the lights. If the brake lights do not come on you do not need one. The reason to check this way, is to make sure that the brake light signal is not on a retained power circuit, and that all the circuits go dead.
However, a stop light switch will be needed, Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751449. Since the factory brake pedal essentially doesn't work in "tow mode" there is no way of knowing if the braking system is working properly. The monitor will tell you when it activates, but not when the pedal moves. So if the arm is misaligned, or if something falls on the brake pedal while towing, you wouldn't know.
