Comparing the Curt Spyder and Curt 25k Gooseneck Trailer Hitches for 5th Wheel Rails

Question:
Whats the difference between the spider gooseneck plates and the bent plate gooseneck hitches? Both have same weight ratings, both fit into rails and they look identical in service. Only difference I can see is the price.

Expert Reply:
First, I have included a link to all of the gooseneck hitches we carry that fit in 5th wheel rails. The Curt Spyder, # 16085, has a low profile design and it is heavier than the Pro Series plate style hitch # 49080. Besides that, there really are not a lot of differences.
The big advantage that the Curt 25k adapter item # 16055 has is that it can be oriented so that the ball is closer to the back of the truck for more clearance when towing with a short bed truck.
For me, I like the Curt plate better because it is more cost effective and versatile.
