How Resistant to Weather is the Demco Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler?
Published 01/18/2020 >
Question:
Hello, I am curious how well will this latch hold up to the elements and if the trailer sits outside all the time. I live in Ohio and we have snow and ice and use salt to de ice the roads.

The Demco Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # DM16080-81 has a corrosion resistant powder coating that has a 500-hour salt spray rating, so it's been tested to withstand exposure to the elements up to a certain point. On top of the powder coating, the EZ-Latch composite latch handle is made of a corrosion-proof polymer-nylon-resin, which is durable and impact resistant to help keep the moving parts in good working order regardless of the conditions
I still recommend keeping your coupler and trailer jack covered during winter storage (and whenever else possible), but Demco has taken a lot of steps to make sure that the EZ-Latches are built to withstand the elements.
If you can tell me more about what kind of trailer you're installing this on, I can help you locate a good all weather cover for you.
