Review of Fastway Ball Mounts FA49-00-5625

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Flash Solid Steel HD Adjustable 2 Ball Mount for two and half inch hitches. This heavy duty ball mount with the included hitch balls, let you hook up for your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank portion slides into the receiver tube of your hitch. And then the hitch balls provide the connection point for your trailer's coupler. Now it does feature multiple adjustment holes, so it has an adjustable height design that let's you tow trailers of different heights using the same vehicle and the same mount, and ensures that your set up is as level as possible. All you have to do is remove the pins and the clips, and then you can slide the mount platform up or down the shank and secure it in place by reinstalling the pins and clips. You also have two differently sized hitch balls that let you two trailers with different coupler sizes. All you have to do is take it off, flip the platform over, and then reinstall it securing it with the pins and clips. It's really easy to do, you have a two and five sixteenth inch ball, and a two inch ball.

So we'll take out the clips and then we'll take our pins and remove those as well. So, with it like this, you can slide it up and down the shank, and get the adjustment you need. If you need to switch between the balls, you just flip it over, and reinstall it. So making adjustments with this unit is quick and easy. And all you do once you have your holes lined back up, place the pins through and make sure you get the clips on the other side. The mount's made from a durable steel.

We have a nice solid forged steel shank offers exceptional strength and commercial grade towing capacity. It has a nice durable glossy finish that's designed to help the unit resist rust and corrosion. Chrome finishing on the steel hitch balls. You have a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock to secure it inside the hitch. That is sold separately, and available at etrailer.com.

Product is made in the USA. It is designed for two and a half inch by two and a half inch trailer hitch receivers. Again, you have a two inch ball and a two and five sixteenth inch ball. The gross towing weight capacity when using the two and five sixteenth inch ball is 20,000 pounds. When using the two inch ball it's 12,000 pounds.

And then your tongue weight capacity is 2,000 pounds. If you're using this in the dropped position, and if you have the platform at the lowest setting, it's going to give you a maximum drop of six inches. That's measured from the inside top edge of the receiver tube of your hitch, down to the top of the ball platform. If you flip it over, and use it in the rise position, and if you have it at its highest setting, it's going to give you a maximum rise of seven inches. Again from the inside top edge of the receiver tube of your hitch, up to the top of the ball platform. The adjustment holes are separated on center by one and five sixteenths inches, so that's your incremental height adjustment. The distance that we got from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch balls is around nine and one quarter inches. And then when you're using this in the rise position, you want to make sure that you have enough clearance from the back of your vehicle to the closest point of the upright. So from the center of the hitch pin hole to this upright portion here, that's about three and a half inches. That's going to do it for today's look at the Flash Solid Steel HD Adjustable 2 Ball Mount for two and half inch hitches.

If the play is coming at the hitch connection, you can add an anti-rattle device like the Roadmaster # RM-062 to tighten up the connection. If it's coming at the ball platform though there's unfortunately not really anything you can do to reduce the rattle.
